Billy Wilder's follow-up to Some Like It Hot stars Jack Lemmon as quiet office worker who tries to get ahead by loaning his apartment to his wily boss (Fred MacMurray) and his executive friends for romantic rendezvous, until he meets pixie-esque Shirley MacLean and tries to reclaim ownership of his own space. The Apartment won 5 Oscars in 1961 including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director. Both Lemmon and MacLaine were also nominated for Best Actor
